A simple three-step flow

How to translate Russian to English speech online

Use this live Russian–English page when a short exchange depends on a Cyrillic name, platform, or place. It starts with Russian and English (United States). The columns stay fixed while speakers take turns, so you can read the Cyrillic caption beside the English one. Ukrainian is a different page and a different catalog language.

  1. 01

    Confirm the Russian catalog entry

The starting label is Russian, ru-RU, with English (United States). This is not Ukrainian (Ukraine). Check the picker before Start if you are not sure which language will be spoken.

  2. 02

Speak one detail, then let the Cyrillic line settle

Press Start translating and allow the microphone. Wait for Listening. Say a platform, surname, or place, then pause. A visit to the page does not start a session.

  3. 03

Check the Cyrillic spelling before you move

Use the Russian caption to verify a name or number. An English spelling can drop letters you still need. Repeat the detail if the two columns do not match.

Words on screen

Follow each turn in the two caption columns

Read Russian speech beside its translation, then let the other speaker answer in English (United States) if they prefer. The text stays grouped by the two selected languages, so check the original wording when a place, name, or number matters.

Captions are text only, and either selected language can be spoken in the same session. The examples on this page are written to illustrate the languages; they are not captions captured from a live session.

With live captions, both people can follow each turn and respond while the conversation is underway. Use the two language columns to check names, numbers, and places together.

English (United States)

Language selections

Choose the two languages for this conversation

This page starts with Russian and English (United States). Speakers can take turns in either selected language during one session. The language columns stay fixed, and the Web trial is up to one cumulative minute per visitor.

How to select the two conversation languages in the browser voice translator
SettingHow it works
First languageStart with Russian.
Second languageUse English (United States) as the second language; both remain visible in separate caption columns.
Conversation directionEither selected language can be spoken in the same session; its translation appears in the other language’s column.

The default is Russian, ru-RU. Captions use Cyrillic. Ukrainian has its own catalog code, uk-UA, and its own page; do not treat a Ukrainian speaker as covered by this Russian default. The page does not transliterate Cyrillic into Latin letters for you. Confirm names, platforms, and numbers in the original caption.

Short, practical exchanges

Where a short live exchange can help

Finding a numbered platform

Ask for the platform alone. Compare the digit in the Cyrillic caption and the English caption before you walk.

Spelling a surname

Say the surname in its own turn. Read the Cyrillic form before you write a Latin-letter version.

Passing a short instruction

One instruction per turn is easier to check than a list. The other speaker can answer in English without reversing the pair.

Practical tips

Make each caption easier to check

  • 01Look for the catalog label Russian before you start. Do not select Ukrainian on this page unless you have switched intentionally.
  • 02Read the Cyrillic surname even when the English spelling looks familiar.
  • 03Keep platform numbers and times in their own turns.
  • 04The browser shows text captions only. It does not play a Russian or English voice translation.

Quick troubleshooting

No microphone input?

Check this site’s microphone permission and your system input device, then return to the tool and start again. If another application is using the microphone, close that recording session first.

Does the browser play translated speech?

No. The browser voice translator shows recognized speech and translations as text captions only; it does not play translated speech.

Connection interrupted?

Wait for the status to recover before speaking. If the session ends, check your connection and press Start again. A reconnect does not guarantee that speech from the interruption can be recovered.

Russian to English voice translator FAQs

Questions before you start

01Is Russian the same selection as Ukrainian?

No. This page starts with Russian, ru-RU. Ukrainian (Ukraine), uk-UA, is a separate catalog language and a separate page. Choose the language the person is actually speaking.

02Will names be shown in Cyrillic?

The Russian example uses Cyrillic. This page does not promise a Latin transliteration. Use the Cyrillic caption to check a surname or place.

03Can an English reply stay in the same session?

Yes. With Russian and English selected, either person can take a turn. The columns remain fixed.

04Can I upload a Russian recording?

No. Start and microphone permission are required for live speech. The page does not take files or export the caption text.

05Does switching to another pair reset the Web minute?

No. The Web trial is up to one cumulative minute per visitor, including time already used if you stop, refresh, or open another pair. The app offer is three free days and is separate.
