A simple three-step flow

How to translate Ukrainian to English speech online

Use this live Ukrainian–English page when the language is Ukrainian, not Russian. It starts with Ukrainian (Ukraine) and English (United States). Captions use Ukrainian Cyrillic, including letters such as і that Russian spelling does not use the same way. Speakers take turns, and the columns stay fixed.

  1. 01

    Select Ukrainian (Ukraine), not Russian

The default is Ukrainian (Ukraine), uk-UA. Russian, ru-RU, is a different page. Check the picker before Start if there is any chance the wrong language is selected.

  2. 02

Say the name or the stop, then pause

Press Start translating and allow the microphone. Wait for Listening. One name or one place is enough for a turn. The page does not open the microphone on load.

  3. 03

Read the Ukrainian Cyrillic, including і

Compare it with the English caption. Do not copy the line into a Russian spelling without looking.

Words on screen

Follow each turn in the two caption columns

Read Ukrainian (Ukraine) speech beside its translation, then let the other speaker answer in English (United States) if they prefer. The text stays grouped by the two selected languages, so check the original wording when a place, name, or number matters.

Captions are text only, and either selected language can be spoken in the same session. The examples on this page are written to illustrate the languages; they are not captions captured from a live session.

With live captions, both people can follow each turn and respond while the conversation is underway. Use the two language columns to check names, numbers, and places together.

Language selections

Choose the two languages for this conversation

This page starts with Ukrainian (Ukraine) and English (United States). Speakers can take turns in either selected language during one session. The language columns stay fixed, and the Web trial is up to one cumulative minute per visitor.

How to select the two conversation languages in the browser voice translator
SettingHow it works
First languageStart with Ukrainian (Ukraine).
Second languageUse English (United States) as the second language; both remain visible in separate caption columns.
Conversation directionEither selected language can be spoken in the same session; its translation appears in the other language’s column.

The default is Ukrainian (Ukraine), uk-UA. It is not Russian, ru-RU. The example uses Ukrainian wording and the letter і in біля. The page does not transliterate Cyrillic or promise every regional variety. Confirm names and places in the Ukrainian caption.

Short, practical exchanges

Where a short live exchange can help

Naming a stop

The edited example uses Khreshchatyk and the Ukrainian word зупинка. Read the Cyrillic before you follow the English place name.

Checking a personal name

Say the name alone. Ukrainian і, ї, є, and ґ are easy to lose in a rough English spelling.

Keeping Russian off this page

If the speaker is using Russian, open the Russian page or change the picker to Russian. This default will not relabel itself.

Practical tips

Make each caption easier to check

  • 01Check the label Ukrainian (Ukraine) before you start. Russian has its own page.
  • 02Read і and the rest of the Cyrillic in the original caption before you write a Latin spelling.
  • 03Keep the place name in its own turn.
  • 04Captions are text only. There is no spoken playback and no file upload.

Quick troubleshooting

No microphone input?

Check this site’s microphone permission and your system input device, then return to the tool and start again. If another application is using the microphone, close that recording session first.

Does the browser play translated speech?

No. The browser voice translator shows recognized speech and translations as text captions only; it does not play translated speech.

Connection interrupted?

Wait for the status to recover before speaking. If the session ends, check your connection and press Start again. A reconnect does not guarantee that speech from the interruption can be recovered.

Ukrainian to English voice translator FAQs

Questions before you start

01Is this the Russian page?

No. It starts with Ukrainian (Ukraine), uk-UA. Russian is a separate catalog language and a separate URL. Select the language that is actually being spoken.

02Why mention the letter і?

Ukrainian spelling uses і, as in біля in the edited example. That letter is one visible difference from Russian spelling. Read the Ukrainian caption rather than assuming the scripts are interchangeable.

03Can the other person answer in English?

Yes. Ukrainian and English can be spoken in turns. The columns stay fixed.

04Can I upload a recording?

No. Live microphone speech starts after Start and permission. The page does not take files or export captions.

05Does a new pair restore the Web minute?

No. The allowance is up to one cumulative minute per visitor. Used time remains used. The app offer is three free days and is separate.
