A simple three-step flow

How to translate Vietnamese to English speech online

Use this live Vietnamese–English page for a short market or street exchange, starting with Vietnamese (Vietnam) and English (United States). The columns stay fixed while the two speakers take turns, so a price, street, or name can be checked in the original caption before anyone acts on it. Vietnamese examples on this page keep tone marks; the tool shows text only after you press Start.

  1. 01

    Confirm Vietnamese (Vietnam)

The starting selection is Vietnamese (Vietnam) with English (United States). Check both labels before you begin. Opening the page does not turn the microphone on, and the page does not guess a different language from nearby speech.

  2. 02

Ask one price or place at a time

Press Start translating, allow microphone access, and wait for Listening. Ask about one item, fare, or street, then pause so both columns can settle. The other person can answer in English without reversing the pair.

  3. 03

Read the tone marks before you pay or walk

Compare the Vietnamese caption with the English one. A missing or different tone mark can change a name or a word. If a price or street looks uncertain, repeat that detail on its own.

Words on screen

Follow each turn in the two caption columns

Read Vietnamese (Vietnam) speech beside its translation, then let the other speaker answer in English (United States) if they prefer. The text stays grouped by the two selected languages, so check the original wording when a place, name, or number matters.

Captions are text only, and either selected language can be spoken in the same session. The examples on this page are written to illustrate the languages; they are not captions captured from a live session.

With live captions, both people can follow each turn and respond while the conversation is underway. Use the two language columns to check names, numbers, and places together.

Language selections

Choose the two languages for this conversation

This page starts with Vietnamese (Vietnam) and English (United States). Speakers can take turns in either selected language during one session. The language columns stay fixed, and the Web trial is up to one cumulative minute per visitor.

How to select the two conversation languages in the browser voice translator
SettingHow it works
First languageStart with Vietnamese (Vietnam).
Second languageUse English (United States) as the second language; both remain visible in separate caption columns.
Conversation directionEither selected language can be spoken in the same session; its translation appears in the other language’s column.

The default catalog label is Vietnamese (Vietnam), vi-VN, from the language list collected on 8 October 2026. Captions are expected in Vietnamese with tone marks, not a tone-free pronunciation guide. This page does not identify a regional accent or switch languages on its own. Check prices, street names, and personal names in the original caption.

Short, practical exchanges

Where a short live exchange can help

Checking a market price

Point to one item and ask the price in a short turn. Read the amount in the original caption before you hand over money. A second item should be a new turn, not an addition to the first sentence.

Asking which street to take

Use a landmark you can both see, then compare the street name in Vietnamese with the English caption. If the spelling is unfamiliar, ask the speaker to repeat it slowly.

Confirming a name at a counter

Say the name once, pause, and read both columns. Vietnamese personal names often keep tone marks that a rough English spelling drops. Use the Vietnamese caption when you write the name down.

Practical tips

Make each caption easier to check

  • 01Keep Vietnamese (Vietnam) and English (United States) selected unless the picker shows a closer match you both intend to use.
  • 02Say a price, quantity, and item in separate short turns. Tone marks and digits are easier to compare that way.
  • 03Read the Vietnamese line before relying on the English street or personal name.
  • 04This browser page does not play a translated voice or accept a voice note. It shows live captions after Start.

Quick troubleshooting

No microphone input?

Check this site’s microphone permission and your system input device, then return to the tool and start again. If another application is using the microphone, close that recording session first.

Does the browser play translated speech?

No. The browser voice translator shows recognized speech and translations as text captions only; it does not play translated speech.

Connection interrupted?

Wait for the status to recover before speaking. If the session ends, check your connection and press Start again. A reconnect does not guarantee that speech from the interruption can be recovered.

Vietnamese to English voice translator FAQs

Questions before you start

01Why does the picker say Vietnamese (Vietnam)?

Vietnamese (Vietnam) is the catalog label for vi-VN, the starting selection on this page. Confirm that label and English (United States) before you press Start.

02Will tone marks show in the Vietnamese caption?

The edited example uses ordinary Vietnamese spelling with tone marks. Read those marks in the original caption when a name or word looks similar to another word. This page does not promise a tone-free romanization.

03Can the English speaker answer without switching the pair?

Yes. After Vietnamese and English are selected, either person can speak one of those languages. The two caption columns stay tied to the selected languages.

04Can I translate a Vietnamese voice message or video here?

No. This page uses the microphone only after you press Start and allow access. It does not upload a file, capture another tab, or export the captions.

05How long can we try a market exchange on the Web?

The Web trial is up to one cumulative minute per visitor. Stopping or refreshing does not restore time already used. The Owll Translator app offer is three free days and follows the app’s own terms.
