A simple three-step flow

How to translate Italian to English speech online

This live Italian–English page starts with Italian and English (United States) for a restaurant, counter, or station exchange. A table time, a quantity, or a name is easier to check when it has its own turn. Speakers can answer in either selected language while the caption columns stay fixed.

  1. 01

Confirm Italian and English (United States)

The catalog label for the default is Italian, it-IT. Check it before Start. The page does not detect a regional variety from the first words it hears.

  2. 02

Order or ask in one short turn

Press Start translating, allow the microphone, and wait for Listening. Ask for the table size or the time, then pause. Opening the page does not start the microphone.

  3. 03

Read the number in both captions

Compare the Italian wording with the English line before you accept a time or quantity. Repeat the number alone if it looks wrong.

Words on screen

Follow each turn in the two caption columns

Read Italian speech beside its translation, then let the other speaker answer in English (United States) if they prefer. The text stays grouped by the two selected languages, so check the original wording when a place, name, or number matters.

Captions are text only, and either selected language can be spoken in the same session. The examples on this page are written to illustrate the languages; they are not captions captured from a live session.

With live captions, both people can follow each turn and respond while the conversation is underway. Use the two language columns to check names, numbers, and places together.

Italian

Un tavolo per due alle otto, a nome Bianchi.

English (United States)

Language selections

Choose the two languages for this conversation

This page starts with Italian and English (United States). Speakers can take turns in either selected language during one session. The language columns stay fixed, and the Web trial is up to one cumulative minute per visitor.

How to select the two conversation languages in the browser voice translator
SettingHow it works
First languageStart with Italian.
Second languageUse English (United States) as the second language; both remain visible in separate caption columns.
Conversation directionEither selected language can be spoken in the same session; its translation appears in the other language’s column.

The default is Italian, it-IT, with English (United States). The page does not promise a separate model for every regional variety. Meal times, surnames, and quantities should be checked in the original caption. The edited example is not a transcript from a live sitting.

Short, practical exchanges

Where a short live exchange can help

Booking a table time

Say the party size and the hour in one short sentence, or split them if the first caption is crowded. Read both columns before the booking is treated as confirmed.

Checking a name on the list

Say the surname once. Use the Italian caption if the English spelling could lose a letter.

Asking which platform or stop

Ask for one location. Let the reply come in English or Italian without reversing the controls, then check any number.

Practical tips

Make each caption easier to check

  • 01Split a table request if the time and the name arrive in one caption you cannot check.
  • 02Read the Italian surname before you rely on the English spelling.
  • 03Keep quantities and clock times in short turns.
  • 04This page shows captions. It does not speak the translation or take an audio file.

Quick troubleshooting

No microphone input?

Check this site’s microphone permission and your system input device, then return to the tool and start again. If another application is using the microphone, close that recording session first.

Does the browser play translated speech?

No. The browser voice translator shows recognized speech and translations as text captions only; it does not play translated speech.

Connection interrupted?

Wait for the status to recover before speaking. If the session ends, check your connection and press Start again. A reconnect does not guarantee that speech from the interruption can be recovered.

Italian to English voice translator FAQs

Questions before you start

01Which Italian selection does the page open with?

Italian, it-IT, and English (United States). Confirm those labels in the picker before you press Start.

02Should I say the time and the name together?

You can, but a crowded caption is harder to check. If the hour or the surname looks uncertain, repeat that part alone.

03Can the server answer in English without a new setup?

Yes. Either selected language can be spoken in the same session. The columns stay fixed.

04Can I translate a menu photo or a voice note?

No. This page is live microphone speech only. It does not scan photos, upload audio, or play a spoken translation.

05How much can we try at the table?

The Web trial is up to one cumulative minute per visitor. Stopping or refreshing does not restore it. The app offer is three free days and follows the app’s own terms.
