How to translate Spanish to English speech online

This live Spanish–English translator starts with Spanish (Spain) and English (US), then keeps both language columns fixed while speakers take turns. It suits a brief face-to-face exchange: asking which platform to use, checking in at a hotel, or agreeing where to meet. Choose the pair before pressing Start; the browser requests microphone access at that point. Captions show recognized words and their translation as text, with up to one cumulative minute on the Web.

  1. 01

Check the Spanish region before you begin

The starting selection is Spanish (Spain) with English (US). If the person speaking uses another regional variety and the language picker offers a closer option, select it before starting. The page uses the pair you choose; it does not identify a regional variety from nearby speech.

  2. 02

Start only when both people are ready

Press Start translating and allow microphone access in the browser. Wait for the Listening status, then take turns with one short question or answer at a time. A page visit alone does not open the microphone, so you can check the selections first.

  3. 03

Check the place or detail in both columns

The Spanish and English caption columns stay in their selected positions while either person speaks. Read the original words beside the translation, let the sentence settle, and repeat a street name, platform, time, or price if it looks uncertain.

Words on screen

Follow each turn in the two caption columns

Read Spanish (Spain) speech beside its translation, then let the other speaker answer in English (US) if they prefer. The text stays grouped by the two selected languages, so check the original wording when a place, name, or number matters.

Captions are text only, and either selected language can be spoken in the same session. The examples on this page are written to illustrate the languages; they are not captions captured from a live session.

With live captions, both people can follow each turn and respond while the conversation is underway. Use the two language columns to check names, numbers, and places together.

Language selections

Choose the two languages for this conversation

This page starts with Spanish (Spain) and English (US). Speakers can take turns in either selected language during one session. The language columns stay fixed, and the Web trial is up to one cumulative minute per visitor.

How to select the two conversation languages in the browser voice translator
SettingHow it works
First languageStart with Spanish (Spain).
Second languageUse English (US) as the second language; both remain visible in separate caption columns.
Conversation directionEither selected language can be spoken in the same session; its translation appears in the other language’s column.

The default is Spanish (Spain) and English (US). Spanish vocabulary and address forms vary by region; a local word for a transit service, shop, or everyday item may not match the term you expect. Check the picker before starting if another regional choice is available. The page does not switch varieties automatically, and important names, addresses, amounts, and directions should be confirmed with the speaker.

Short, practical exchanges

Where a short live exchange can help

Finding a station or entrance

Ask for a station, platform, stop, or building entrance in one sentence. Before walking away, compare the place name and any number in the Spanish caption with the English text. If a street or station name is unfamiliar, ask the other speaker to repeat it slowly rather than relying on the translation alone.

Checking in or asking for service

Use a short turn to ask where to check in, whether a room or table is ready, or what to do next. Keep a reservation name, date, or price separate from the rest of the request; both speakers can read the recognized wording before acting on it.

Agreeing on a time and meeting point

Say one location and one time, then let the reply come in English or Spanish without changing the selected pair. Read the details back to each other. A concise exchange is easier to check than several directions or changes bundled into one turn.

Practical tips

Make each caption easier to check

  • 01For a Spain-based conversation, keep the default Spanish (Spain) selection. If the speaker uses another variety and the picker includes it, choose that entry before pressing Start; the page does not detect accents or switch regions mid-session.
  • 02Ask one thing at a time. A direction, a platform number, and a meeting time are easier to check as separate turns than as one long request.
  • 03Spanish place names and local service terms can be unfamiliar even when the sentence is clear. Read the Spanish caption first, then ask the speaker to repeat or spell a name that matters.
  • 04Use the English or Spanish column to verify dates, prices, room numbers, and street names before making a booking or changing plans.

Quick troubleshooting

No microphone input?

Check this site’s microphone permission and your system input device, then return to the tool and start again. If another application is using the microphone, close that recording session first.

Does the browser play translated speech?

No. The browser voice translator shows recognized speech and translations as text captions only; it does not play translated speech.

Connection interrupted?

Wait for the status to recover before speaking. If the session ends, check your connection and press Start again. A reconnect does not guarantee that speech from the interruption can be recovered.

Spanish to English voice translator FAQs

Questions before you start

01Why does this page start with Spanish (Spain)?

Spanish (Spain) and English (US) are the configured starting pair. You can check the language picker and select another available Spanish regional entry before starting if it better fits the speaker.

02Can the other person answer in English without changing the pair?

Yes. Once Spanish and English are selected, either person can speak one of those languages in the same live session. The caption columns remain tied to the selected languages while the speakers take turns.

03Does the Spanish selection cover every regional variety?

The page starts with Spanish (Spain), and other choices depend on the current catalog. It does not automatically detect or promise separate support for every regional variety. Check the selected entry and confirm local names or terms with the speaker.

04Can I use a Spanish voice note or video instead?

No. This browser page uses live microphone speech after you press Start and allow access. It does not accept audio or video uploads, capture another tab, or export a transcript.

05How much live translation time is available on the Web?

The current Web trial is up to one cumulative minute per visitor. Time already used still counts after you stop or refresh. The Owll Translator app offer is three free days and follows its own app experience.
